The Walking Dead

I’ve recently been watching a lot of the Tv series “The Walking Dead”. I’ve grown pretty attached to some of the characters, and whenever someone dies in the series, I feel sad for their death. The last death in the series was Merle, Daryl’s brother. He gets shot, and then subsequently turned into a zombie, to be later found by his brother. As if it wasn’t already emotional enough, he ended up killing his zombified brother.

This Monday is the series finale, and im expecting an intense episode, as it has been released that 20+ characters are going to die. Let’s just hope that some of my favourites don’t die.

UOW Discovery Day

I recently attended the University of Wollongong’s Discovery Day, which essentially is a chance for year 12 students to take a few lectures in the Uni, and experience what it is like, see the campus and just generally check it out.

I thought it was pretty cool personally, they had a wide variety of choices in topics to look at, but unfortunately I didn’t get into the main lecture I wanted to get in.

They organised it very well, and I was impressed with the Lunch Time DJ, especially at the beginning when he mixed some generally older songs, which personally I love to mix myself. Im hoping to attent Wollongong Uni myself, because it’s close, its got a good reputation and the campus/people there seem pretty cool.

Just to sound unbiased here, I would love to get into UNSW, but the course I would like to study requires an ATAR of 99, which is realistically impossible for me.

Anyway, UOW sounds and looks great, and I can’t wait for the HSC to be over and to attend Uni already. Plus I was snapped in several photo’s making it to their Facebook page.

Organising Soccer Teams

So its late January, and soon everyone playing soccer has to register. For some reason every year I seem to organize everyone to make a team of old team mates and friends, and I really love it.

Getting everyone together, and creating a formation that suits everyone. I feel like Im playing Manager Mode on FIFA. Hopefully we get the team together and have an awesome season.

First Day Back

Today was the first day back at High School, and as I predicted, it was very slow and pointless. It was basically a meet and greet again, followed by what were going to start going.

I finished ‘most’ of my holiday homework, and I can’t be bothered to finish the rest, because its just tedious repetition, and the work im expected to complete I forgot 6 weeks ago at the end of last year.

Hopefully tomorrow won’t be as fruitless, and I might actually learn something.

“Citizens Day”

Alot of people around Australia are starting to call Australia Day “Citizens Day”. They feel that they are being “not included” because the name “Australia Day” does not include their religion and/or culture, and people want to remain “politically correct”.

Frankly this disgusts me. Majority of these people have come from other countries to seek our hospitality and fair living, and then try to change it because they don’t like it. Australia Day celebrates the First Fleets arrival to Australia, and everyone in Australia if free to celebrate it. Its the day where everyone feels proud to be Australian.

It’s true that we rather “invaded” the land from the Aboriginals at the time, but since then, they have been given equal rights and we have formally acknowledged and apologised for the mistreatment they felt.

But to change a name of a public holiday just to stay politically correct is absurd. I can understand the reasoning of being politically correct, but its just come to far.

My Australia day activities included being towed around behind a boat on a donut in the bay, and then going to a party and having some drinks. All in all it was pretty good, and very Australian.

The ‘Last Minute’ Holiday Homework

I find myself in this position every year. After the christmas holidays are coming to an end, remember that I have excessive amounts of homework due, after neglecting it all for almost a month thinking I’ll have time later.

There is nothing more painful then this, because towards the end of the holidays, everything seems to be so much more beautiful and exciting, while im stuck at home completing homework. And the distractions are even more tempting towards the end of the holidays as well, things that seem so boring suddenly become the most important thing in your life.

Dont leave homework to the last minute kids.

Richard Ayoade

Let’s just take a moment to realize how awesome Richard Ayoade is as a person, and as an actor. I first discovered him in the british sit-com The IT Crowd. He plays the role of Moss, a typical IT worker, with his co-actor Chris O’Dowd. I personally love the show, and both actors greatly.

Richard though, I have been watching shows where he is appearing as a guest, on shows such as The Big Fat Quiz, and he is just amazing. Not only extremely funny and entertaining, but quite the quizzer as well. The fact that he directs movies as well is cool, I havn’t had a chance to watch it yet, but i’ll hopefully get around to it soon.

Richard Ayoade is COOL.

Big Day Out

I attended Big Day Out the other day. Its safe to say that while alot of people didn’t like the line up, the later half was defiantly worth every cent.
Seeing Vampire Weekend, The Killers AND Red Hot Chili Peppers all live, especially being about 10 rows from the stage, was nothing short of amazing. The ecstasy of moshing to The Killers itself was amazing, and defiantly the highlight of the day.

New Domain

So I just bought the domain jakepascoe.com!

Pretty happy with that.

Now that I have my new domain name, im going to get into updating it more, and adding some new features.

I will be posting my progress with my new app im developing.

I’ve also got a concert coming up soon, “Big Day Out”, and some more stuff, so hopefully I can keep on track with my website.

FIFA Career Mode

Fifa 13 is starting to really bug me. Especially the career mode. After one season, starting the next, without fail, the game will freeze, and no matter what you do, this will keep happening. It is so frustrating, the fact that you have to pay $80+ for a game that doesn’t even work properly, I mean, come on EA. And don’t even get me started on the ref’s in game, I’ve spent too long shouting at my console in frustration for a clear penalty or free kick that has gone unnoticed.
